Louisiana sets its tax deadline in state law. Your parish tax collector (the sheriff in most parishes, the City of New Orleans in Orleans Parish) takes payment once the tax roll arrives, and it's due by December 31 unless another law says otherwise. After that, interest runs at 1% a month. To challenge your value, look over the assessment list while it's open and get a complaint to the parish board of review at least seven days before its hearing.
